Whenever you enter a series, it’s always worth asking the inevitable question. Will there be more once the season is over?
Some may be speculating on this when it comes to Women of the Movement right now, the gripping historical drama on ABC.
Created and written by Marissa Jo Cerar, director Gina Prince-Bythewood helps bring this story of Grandma Till-Mobley and her fight for justice following the tragic murder of her son to the screen.
It began its premiere on Thursday, January 6, 2022, and the first season ended with Episode 6 on Thursday, January 20, 2022.
So, consider if Women of the Movement Season 2 is inbound.
Is Women of the Movement renewed for a season 2?
No and there’s no reason to wait for renewal news as Women of the Movement is billed as a mini-series.
The production serves as an adaptation of Devery S. Anderson’s book Emmett Till: The murder that shocked the world and propelled the civil rights movement. Of course, it’s based on a true story.
So, the creators approached the project with an ending in mind, ensuring that all six episodes told all the story they wanted to tell.
After witnessing the conclusion with episode 6, there is no reason to suspect that the writers would want to work on season 2. However, it is likely that they would like to work on such a large and thematic TV series. .
“I didn’t want to be that show”
During a chat with AssignmentX, Marissa Jo Cerar opened up about her intentions and creative decisions on Women of the Movement:
“It was really important to me that we didn’t start the show with a corpse. I didn’t want to be this show. I wanted to start with the birth because I wanted the audience to see his brother, his cousin, his neighbor, her child’s school friend, her pupil, the little boy who walks into the corner store.
She continued: “I didn’t want them to see a victim in a body bag because that’s what we see too often in the news…I wanted it to be a family drama that happens to be a real crime. “
